FurInform Community Update
As FurInform passes nine months in operation, we're excited to share with you some behind the scenes updates that have been taking place. You might have noticed out posting schedule for March has been a little inconsistent. That is not because things are going wrong, but rather going right. We've been working behind the scenes to expand FurInform in a few key ways that will increase its reach, its community participation, and the variety of our posts.
The last community update we did, we were relaunching our newsletter after some troubling months of downtime for our website. We had rebuilt our site, and implemented new framework tools like our Privacy Policy and our temporary more-secure way for community members to request to contribute newsletters. We are proud to say that these positive changes are still in effect! We truly do appreciate all those who have contributed to our newsletter thus far in 2026, and we're happy that the website has been stable so far as to allow us to continue sending newsletters to everyone!
This update comes as a notice of expansion of FurInform, as well as a few positive changes to how FurInform is run as an organization.
New FurInform Groupchat on Telegram:
As FurInform grows as a community, it has become increasingly obvious that we need a place to convene about intersectional furry communist issues. Over the last nine months, FurInform has been in association with the groupchat Red Fur Gang started by fellow community member Motato. While this agreement has been great for both, expanding the size of both FurInform and Red Fur Gang, it becomes increasingly clear that FurInform must stand on its own and foster its own community in line with its dedicated communist ideology. Red Fur Gang is a generalized far-left groupchat, which is amazing for everyone involved, however for the goals of FurInform it is important to create a more ideologically succinct chat for community members to engage in.
While FurInform has its roots directly as a result of Red Fur Gang, and we have nothing but the utmost respect for the groupchat and for Motato for initially helping FurInform's start last year and for encouraging community involvement through Red Fur Gang, we must part ways as organizations. It is important to note that we are not splitting paths with Red Fur Gang in order to sew discontent and division within the leftist community, and actively encourage members of Red Fur Gang to remain members even if they wish to join us on this new path. FurInform will always have its roots in Red Fur Gang, and we wish nothing but the best for the chat as a whole.
If you wish to join this new groupchat, we have set up similar levels of protections to Red Fur Gang which includes an initial vetting chat. If you take a look at our Telegram Channel, t.me/furinform, we will have the new vetting chat linked there. Once you pass through the vetting chat, you will be added to the new chat. Rules and regulations will be included in the publicly visible vetting chat, so you can make sure you are comfortable with them prior to joining our chat.
Potential Podcast:
We are happy to announce for our audiophiles out there who prefer listening to content instead of reading it in your inbox that we are exploring the options to create a podcast format for FurInform, following our newsletter format. While we cannot promise any specifics at this current moment, we're working hard to make this a reality and we're excited to keep you updated on our progress. The podcast episodes will not be exactly the same as our newsletters so there is incentive to engage with both, and we do not intend to stop producing the newsletters as we build this new format.
Staff changes:
Over the last few months, you might have noticed changes to our staff page. Namely, names no longer appearing there. FurInform is an organization that is run on a volunteer basis without earning any money from the project in its current form. Articles are written for free by staff or community members because of the passion they feel for this project. Unfortunately, some staff members left the project due to issues behind the scenes. While it is neither our place, nor our desire, to discuss these issues as we do not feel it appropriate to our audience and to our former staff members, we do want to confirm their absence instead of ignoring it. Moving forward, we are looking for additional staff members who are willing and able to contribute to FurInform. Should you be passionate about it and wish to contribute in that more meaningful way, don't hesitate to reach out to FurInform either by email or via the new Telegram Groupchat.
It is also important to note that although those individuals have left, we still intend to deliver the same newsletter to you that we have been, and do not intend to let their absence lead to a decrease in quality of work. You might see more articles by single authors, such as myself, for a time, but we will still do our best to continue delivering you a newsletter that you can feel good about.
An affirmation of our mission:
As we proceed with these new changes, and new paths in our future, we wanted to take a moment to affirm our mission remains unchanged. FurInform's original goal is to inform furries and communists alike on intersectional issues, expand their understanding of generalized communist topics, and to encourage more and educate on how to pursue community involvement and improvement. While we do cover a wide range of topics with our newsletter, it remains our goal to leave our readers better informed than when they landed on our page. We host a variety of communist opinions from different branches of the larger ideology, and implore readers and community authors alike to engage in educative and civil discussion with the diverse topics that exist on our platform. You might not always agree with newsletters we or members of our community write, but we encourage you to use those moments as jumping off points to educate yourself more on topics, and if you so desire, to write a response newsletter to express your position and why you feel it is more correct. The goal of FurInform is not to express a singular ideology and espouse it to our readers, nor lend allegiance to any single nation or political entity. Our goal is to be the introductory step to ideas and topics, and thus bring about a better understanding and better involvement. Our community is heavily divided between branches of ideology, and thus it is more important than ever to demonstrate that as communists, we are closer to one another than we often give credit. While no individual author can wholly abandon their biases, we hope that through our diverse framework of writers and community contributions, the newsletters can lead to a generalized understanding in the fight against capitalism. We can build a better world together.
Final Thoughts:
As nine months comes and goes since we first started publishing newsletters, we know that there has been inconsistency and uncertainty in our organization. Of course at the start of a project, that is not ideal. However, over the last three months we have continued to make stronger progress than in the 6 months prior, and we have no intentions of slowing down. We are eternally grateful to our readers who stuck with us through the hard times last fall, and for the newcomers who have joined us since the unofficial relaunch this January after resolving our website related issues. It has been absolutely amazing and rewarding for us to see the impact that our words have had, and the privilege we've been given to host writings from several community authors thus far this year. You, our reader, directly make this possible, and for that we say thank you. We hope to only grow our community further, and that more writers lend their words to our platform.
In Solidarity,
FurInform
